Angry Fuel Filter Frustration

Trying to replace the fuel filter on my B6, all that needs to be taken apart is taken apart, both inlet fuel lines got disconnected and attached to the new filter, but... I cannot disconnect the 2 outlet fuel lines from the filter. The 2 black connectors do not have a push button or anything I can find on them to release them from the filter.
I have read a couple of DYI including one with photos http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209938 but the technique of squeezing the collar does not work for me.
I was hoping someone here has replaced a fuel filter and could give me some pointers. I have spent over a good hour cussing like a sailor, but the darn fuel connectors just don't care and won't release...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

you have tried squeezing them huh have you tried going and squeezing and usein a flat head to help push off the fittings? put the flat head shaft on the 90 degree of the filter toward the fittings and push while squeezing fitting.

yes, I tried just about anything. It almost takes 3 hands... one to hold the filter, one to hold the fuel connector, and one to hold a small flat blade screwdriver... No joy!
If I cannot finish today I'll go to the dealer on Monday and talk to the part guy and/or a mechanic until I get an answer.

No worries, I won't take the car to a stealer. This is my spare car as I usually drive the A6, although most of the time I ride the Beemer bike.
But I will go to the dealer on Monday to ask how that piece of $#@ connector comes off...

Ok, it's kind of hard to explain because the picture does not show it well, but The clips have sort of a U shaped clamp system. Since they are all black it is hard to see the seems but all you have to do is pop those things up and the plug comes out. Look closely and you will see there is a part to push up with a small screwdriver.

Thanks! I'll try that tonight when I get home.

Thumbs up

Armed with a powerful flashlight I was able to see what was going on.
Just a push in the right place was all it took.
Thank you all for the replies.
Now on to the next project...
