I dont know if you are technically inclined enough, but on my older S4, i removed the Fuel Injectors and had them cleaned and balanced at RC Engineering, then reinstalled them. INSANELY noticable difference.

Bear in mind, you can buy a $15 bottle of injector cleaner and ....what does it really do? You can pay a shop $120 for fuel injector service, and they do a better job than the additive...or do they?

I had 5 injectors in my I5 20v S4, and it cost me $125 to get balanced and cleaned at RC Engineering (did the R&R labor myself)

You get a complete report and also they refurb your injectors to original factory specs.

I have used the fuel additives in the past, but have always had doubt as to whether or not they were helpful. Never felt like paying a shop to do a $120 injector service because in my mind, they do the same thing as pouring a $15 bottle of injector cleaner.

You can't argue hard data:

And here is a link to the thread that shows my injectors before and after

Let us know what you end up doing...

Brian

yea.. I'm probably going to be trying the additives because my car is a daily driver and I can't be without it for more then 2 days...

what do cleaning the fuel injectors do anyway? I started this thread because when I was buying my oil at Autozone they tried very hard to push this Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner on me, I didn't buy it but I left there wondering wtf it was for...

Fuel additives wont hurt. Just depends on how picky you are I suppose, and how bad you need it.

Check the link below, it's good reading...

This is good reading on Injector cleaning:

This is info on RC Eng injector service

additives are pointless when trying to clean injectors. You have to take them out to clean them
