I just did this and its pretty easy. I would pull the whole headlight assembly as it is much easier than trying to squeeze your hands in from the back IMO. For mine it was 3 T-30 torx bits, two up top and one closest to the fender. Now thats on my 01 and I think that the B6 has 4. Once those are out you can gently pull out the assembly and disconnect the turn signal and headlight harnesses. Swap the bulbs out and make sure the little thing sticking from the outside of the bulb itself is pointed towards the bottom of the headlight assembly. You then need to put the spring that holds the bulb back on. Put the whole thing back into the car and then make any alignment or aiming adjustments as needed. There should be two white plastic screws that you can do the manual adjustments with.

Thats just the thing...when I took apart the stock HID equipped headlight, it appears that the bulb itself is attatched to the ballast (by a power supply line), and doesnt look like I can take the power supply line off from the ballast. I dont know anything about these headlights, but the ones I ordered from VVME were the H7 and look completely different. I think I need the D2S ones instead, but need to figure out if there is a way to just swap out the bulb or if I need to buy the ballast/bulb kit.

Since you have the factory Xenons you only need the bulb. Its a D2S bulb. And the bulb goes into that connector that supplies the power and its just twisted in. There are little indexes and you simply turn it.

No problem. Once you get looking at it you'll see it's relatively straight forward.

why would you pull your headlights out to put HID's in. you would have to re-aim them and all that jazz. just remove the air box for the pass side and the driver side you dont need to move anything......
