Default Got a few questions before I buy.

Hello all, I'm looking to buy a used Audi A4 1.8t around the years of 2002-2004, and most of the ones that I see have about 70-80k miles on it. Is this alot for an audi? How many miles will it take before I'm going to have to make some expensive repairs? And if I do buy the A4 is a bov alright for the engine?

Thanks alot

From my point of view, it's all about maintenance of the car ... look for a car that you're sure as been take care of or you'll be trap in one hell of a money pit. 70-80k is pretty much where the car is in need of a timing belt job ($$) . As for the BOV, if you go full BOV, you might gonna end up with bad code ... if you want the BOV for the ppssshhh noise, go with a hybide BOV/DV (ex : mine is a Forge Motorsport Hybride 75%DV/25%BOV ) so you wont get bad code and as for the psshhh noise, you will need a short ram intake to go with or you wont hear much.

good luck

The car that I have been looking at has new belts and tires, so I guess it will last for awhile =D And for the bov, if I get a new turbo kit with a intake would that make a difference?

Thanks alot

It will make a difference since with a bigger turbo, you will need a FMIC, that mean all different piping ... but since I don't have a FMIC myself, I can't tell you if you'll get bad code from a full BOV with a FMIC.

SLUDGE! If you don't know what it is then Google 'Audi A4 Sludge' before you buy. Also make sure the oil was done at least every 10K miles with proof because if you do have a sludge problem Audi might not be able to help you with there 8 year extended warrenty on sludge to fix it.

Hope that helps.
