Grinding noise when accelerating
I have an '05 Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0. The car recently started shaking violently when I accelerate, mainly at speeds 50+. I brought it immediately to a European auto mechanic. After examining the entire car "thoroughly" the problem was that my rims were bent. They took the three bent ones off and had them straightened. Ran me about $400. When I started driving again, the shake was still there. I called them back and they said it is because the rims being bent caused the tires to be warped, but they would straighten out after driving for a while. That didn't happen.
Now I am hearing a grinding noise when I accelerate. Basically from 0-20 then it stops and it's just the shake. From what I read, most signs seem to point to a CV joint, but recognize it could also be a trans problem. Anyone have any insight?

i had this problem. my steering wheel was shaking and everytime i reached about 30mph the whole car would vibrate. turned out the steel belts in my tires were defective and my wheel balancing was off. got 4 new tires and balanced, no more vibration and shaking!!
