help with engine light.
I'm having to resort to forums with the hope that someone can help. I have a 2004 1.9 tdi quattro. The car has around 85k on the clock and drives lovely...HOWEVER I have an orange engine light on. Please read the following.
EGR was weeping like mad from the two small holes on side, so swapped it for a salvage unit...within a few days the 'emission/engine' light came on.
Bought a new genuine MAF.
No change..
had car plugged in which came up with EGR fault.
put the original egr back on. The light went off.
about 3 weeks later the lights back!
Changed the two solenoids down near the air box,for new genuine ones. Checked the vacuum pipes, no change.
I'm at a loss. I seriously don't know what else to look at now. For the record, the car has recently had, a few weeks before all this, a new flywheel and clutch, temp sensor, thermostat...all genuine.
any suggestions?
cheers, daniel.

I second the need for the exact codes. They can really help us out in hopes of finding a solution for you.
When you say you put in a new EGR (Kombi valve, right?) it was from a salvage yard, right? It could be possible that the "new" EGR valve that you put on was defective, as well as your OEM on that was with the car when you bought it. They are very sensitive and only take about 10/11 PSI to open and close them. If they are old / packed with carbon and other junk, there will not be enough vacuum to open them.

Sorry I can't remember the codes. I've arranged to have it plugged in again next week. It's strange because the car drives great. I'm thinking too that the original egr is now faulty as well as the one I replaced it with. Coincidence? Ha!
I'm not sure how that picture of a random egr helps at all. It looks like an egr off a 1.9 tdi pd engine which is not like that one in the uk. It's getting plugged in next Wednesday so ill know then. Thanks for replies. Dan
