Default Help plz, clutch went flat on me!

SO this is the second time this has happened, I go to press the clutch in and its flat and has no pressure, then a second later its back again. Being the second time this has happened its getting worse, i haven't driven the car again yet cuz i'm at school! hopefully i don't have to get a tow.

My thoughts were that the throw out bearing is going out???

also any reccomendations on a clutch brand to use would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like it needs a new clutch and throw out bearing to me, i personally wouldn't drive it.
Southbend is a good clutch, clutchmasters also sells a great clutch for audis. I believe mike-2ptzero can sell you a good clutch, PM him if he doesn't drop in on the thread. He ALWAYS responds to clutch threads LOL.

Sounds like it could be a leak in the hydrolic system since it happens and then is good again. Usually when its the clutch or throw-out bearing it just fails and thats it.

I would have the the system checked. Everything from the Master, Slave and the linel before going as far as to replace the clutch kit itself. When the TB goes bad it usually causes some vibration/noise when pushing the pedal, when part of it breaks off it usually effects where the clutch engages or wont disengage at all. If it competely breaks it can slip thru the PP which causes the pedal to fall to the floor when pushed and causes the slave to pop.

I called the dealer and spoke with the service dept. and the guy said that the clutch fluid is part of the brake system fluid?? I personally have never heard of anything like that. Is this true?

Sure is, and if the slave cylinder is indeed leaking the brake fluid should be a little low. You could easilly see if its leaking by looking at the driver's side of the transmission by the bell housing, because that does sound logical.

Clutch Master or South Bend depending on your needs and if you want to have the stock pedal feel and engagement.

Hit me up if you have questions about clutch kits.

PM sent with some helpfull info.

CM 228mm = Slightly softer to Stock pedal feel and stock engagement point
CM 240mm = Slightly stiffer pedal feel then stock and slightly lower engagement then stock

SB HD = Slightly stiffer pedal feel and slightly lower engagement then stock
SB SS = Much stiffer pedal feel and a really low engagement point

sorry but this is probably a dumb question but what do you mean by low engagement ? is that how far you have to push the pedal down before the gear engages? I"m not sure what are the benifits of stiffer? or lower engagement?

Does having a stiffer or lower engagement clutch affect the length of life of the clutch?
