Default Hi there, New here and new to Audi!!

Hi, I just wanted to say hey and whats up. I just purchased a '05 A4 1.8t quattro.

I love the car, drives very well. when looking for cars, I was set on one car at first which was a subaru wrx or sti, drove one of those and thought it was nice, but then I test drove a a4(2006) 6spd manual, and I was instantly persuaded to switch. I was so amazed at how tightly fit the car felt and the comfortable ride.

I drove the subaru again to see what I was feeling was true and the second time driving it, i could hear all the little rattles and how loose the car felt. the powerband may of been more quirky but I liked the Audi better.

after searching and searching I found this '05 6pd manual. It's so hard to find a manual thats in good condition both exterior and interior.

after driving it home i turned the car off and looked under the hood. here is my little question regarding this car.(this is my first oem turbo car. I had installed a turbo before on a civic I had owned)

after driving and popped the hood up, i noticed the turbo housing glowing, not bright orange just noticeable. is this normal? I have seen this before but only on dyno and usually bigger turbos.

anyway here are some pictures

If your driving was a little spirited i could would expect a slightly glowing turbo. Otherwise it should not glow under normal driving.

Like the other guy said. Driving it hard will make the turbo glow so remember to drive it gently for 5 mins before you shut it off and you should be good. Driving hard means high revs and high speeds. When I get home I usually drive it hard on the highway and then once I'm off I'll drive it gently till I get home. This usually gives the turbo time to cool down

oh another question i had, i removed the hose from the diverter valve to get the psh sound, and also blocked off the tube that went into the airbox again. the car wouldnt idle but after a couple min it settled down. and while driving it felt slower and mpg was bad too.

i did put everything back because after the first day of driving, that noise became annoying to me. my last car was a turbo civic and that was 4 years ago(havent been able to drive for 4 years) and at that point i was young and thought it was cool to have the loudest bov.

but my question is, i notice the DV lets out air when idling, but when i look at how it recirculates, it goes back in after the MAF, so how does the ECU know there is an issue with the air being pumped in? does the ecu know how much air is being used for combustion and how much should be recirculated?

i am also wondering how a DV valve operates compared to a BOV, besides the one being vented.

If I'm not mistaken the diverter valve diverts air that would normally be blown off back into the engine. Either way don't mess with it. Remember, it's not a civic it's an extremely complex 1.8 turbo engine so leave it as is before you really **** things up.

Hello people!!! I am new here as well. This forum is kinda overwhelming...anyway...I need to have my front right inner and outer tie rod ends...What is the best one(brand) i can buy for the best buck...Please help..any1!!

I was quoted to have this replaced at evan tires for $450. A mechanic i know will do it for $50. I just have to buy the parts! so i figure i might as well invest in a good rod assembly!

Hello there and welcome! I would check ECSTUNING for a decent kit and just replace everything. They carry Febi, Meyle, and Eurospec. I have used Meyle pieces in the past on my E36 and was happy with them, but the other too are reputable(from what I have read) and are bit less expensive. I plan of going with the Eurospec myself just because the price is right.
