Default I need some help, please!

I have a 2003 A4 1.8T. I just took the car in for the ignition coil recall and I had another code on the check engine light. P0299 for the turbo. To start, does anyone about the turbo and any common problems that would come with that code? Also, how about costs on that? And though I'm not super experienced in auto repairs, is this something I could do on my own?

I really appreciate any help

i'm thinking that po299 is turbo underboost, i could be wrong though. if it is turbo underboost, that means your manifold absolute pressure sensor is not reading the boost the ecu expects to see. most common problem is the air is not physically getting to the map sensor, ie boost hose is off or has a hole in it, your diverter valve could be stuck in the divert position. i would do an inspection of the intake hoses, make sure they are on and the clamps are tight. i'm not sure how the check the diverter valve short of taking it off and looking at it. if everything checks out, clear the code, drive it for a while and see if it comes back.
