Default I would just like to rant for a bit.

Let me just rant for a bit...

My wife has an '04 cabriolet with the CVT. (I know, I shouldn't of bought the CVT). The car only has 77,000 miles.

About three months ago we started noticing the transmission acting up. It was getting very jittery, and the engine would kill under a standing brake. We brought it in to our local Audi dealership. Since owning the car, we have ONLY brought it to this dealership.

Upon bringing it in for transmission complaints, they told us it was a dirty throttle body. Fine. We paid the $300 for the throttle body cleaning and a brake light switch. They told us this was the reason for our jittering and engine dying. Fine. This was three weeks ago.

Before we took the car back from them, we double checked and asked specifically, "Is out transmission fine? Will it give out on us soon?" Their response was a very solid, "Yes it is just perfect, not one issue." We needed this assurance because the extended 10 year warranty on the transmission was expiring the next week. For those who are unaware, Audi had a class action lawsuit against them for the CVT transmissions giving out prematurely. This is why they gave a 10 year warranty on the CVT's starting from the production date of the car.

Last friday my wife calls me from the highway, the Audi is revving uncontrollably and the gear selection indicator lights are flashing. She had to pull off to the emergency lane because she had no control over the throttle. We were able to drive the car home on backroads not going over 30 mph. Since this was the Saturday before Easter, we had to wait till Monday to bring in the car.

When we brought the car back, the dealership found that the transmission is in-fact shot and needed to be replaced. They did submit the claim to Audi of America for the warranty. This was declined by AOA because we are a WEEK past the warranty expiration. Our service writer fought for us and tried to get the claim accepted, but no luck. We are obviously very upset because we DID bring in the car with transmission issues THREE WEEKS AGO while we had warranty coverage.

The dealership gave us the phone number for AOA directly to fight for coverage. We contacted them and stated out case. We are currently waiting to hear back from AOA currently.

Oooohhhh the joys of owning an Audi....

Don't give up dude.

I was in line at the dealership last Year on the day the warranty extension went into effect. I drank about 6 cups of their Starbucks coffee to extract every dollar I could possibly get out of them, and drove their loaner car like I was escaping a Mexican drug cartel for over a week. Lol. My cvt was dead for over a year and I didn't drive it out of protest.

Keep calling aoa and don't give up. Tell the story over and over again about how you asked about the tranny and they said it was fine.

Worst case scenario There is a service on eBay that you can send the TCM to and they will reprogram it, it costs about 500 bucks but the labor is about 400-500 too cause its a bitch to get to.

Fight those bastards!
