The blade broke off my keyless entry remote, and the local audi dealer wants $220 to replace. I found a private locksmith that works at another dealer who will replace just the blade on the key if the housing unit is still good (which it isn't, the metal clamp is busted) for $85.00. I can get a blank key for $19.00 off ebay, has anyone had this issue before?

 

FOLLOW UP:

I found a local locksmith who said he would cut the key for $25.00. I have to hold the keyless entry close to the ignition when starting the car with this key, but it will work until I can afford to pay the $220 to replace the car.

 

You could buy one on ebay and use your own chip. There is a write up on audizine about transferring the chip.
