Default Key Remote Issue

Lately I've been having a rather annoying Key Remote issue:

I only have one key that came with the car when I bought it used, and about a week ago it died. I did some research, and replaced the battery in the key fob. After replacing it, I tried to re-sync it with no such luck.

Took my car into an independent local shop get a brake job, and had them also take a look at it. They say there IS power coming from the remote, but it still won't re-sync with the car and I have to go to the Audi dealership.

Here's the major problem, for me: I don't even care about locking the doors with the remote, the main thing was that it was my only way to get the trunk open. For some reason the driver's side door trunk button stopped working about a year ago, so I've just been using the key remote. Well, now that stopped working, so I tried to insert the key manually, and it's like impossible to get it to turn and open up. That must be broken as well. I was told it was an electronic/computer issue with the car...and it Takes me about 10 minutes usually, and is rather embarrassing when I'm out somewhere or at the golf course trying to get my golf clubs out.

So, I'd really like to get it fixed. Any ideas? Should I just take it to the Audi dealership? I was told it's "probably an electronic issue and will cost me 200-300$$ at the dealership, who are the only ones who can do anything for me." I really don't have that money to spend to open the damn trunk up and to lock the doors. LOL.

Open to ideas, comments, or just about anything.

Thanks.

not trying to sound like a smart ***, but did you put the batteries back in correctly? always start with the simple things... same thing happened to me. i changed my batteries and it wasn't working. realized i had em in upside down, changed em, left the key in the on position in the ignition for about 15 minutes and voila, it worked again lol

Lol. I'm Pretty sure it's back in correctly; plus, the mechanic yesterday told me he checked it out and said that there was power coming from the remote, so he thinks it's an electrical problem with the car...

common problem and really easy to re-sync.

1) put key in ignition
2) turn key to ON position (but do not start the car)
3) while key is in the ignition in the ON position, press the unlock button on the remote
4) turn key back to off and remove from ignition
5)PROFIT...er press any button and see if it worked.

that should do it

Doesn't work. Already tried it, and just tried it again for the hell of it.

try it this way

put key in ignition and turn to "ON" pos(without starting)

press and hold lock button on keyfob

while holding lock button press lock button on door

then press and hold unlock button on keyfob

while holding unlock, press unlock on door

remove key

and try the buttons

may have to do it a couple times but it worked for me this way...

also in regards to the door trunk button, if you look under your trunk there is a keyhole there. try unlocking the trunk(turn ccw and it will pop open, then remove key without turning it cw all the way just a quarter turn)

same thing happened to me until i checked that key hole also

also if you know anyone with a vagcom cable they woud be able to check for you if it sees the keyfob and can try sync it that way too

I tried that method a week or two ago, and it didn't work for me man. Nothing works. I think it's definitely a car issue and not even the key at this point...

And I already know there's a key hole on the trunk. I've been doing it manually like that, but it's so difficult to open. There must be something fucked up with it, because there's no way it should take me 10 minutes to get the trunk open via the key hole. Lol.

That's possible. I'll look into it. Thanks.

What do you mean? The button on the driver's side door, or the key hole? The key hole works but it takes me like 10 minutes to turn it and get it to open. The thing just doesn't want to open up... Sometimes the alarm goes off in the process, LOL.
