Whether or not it's legal depends on the state you live in. Here in MN, it is required to have both front and back state issued plates. I think there's like 20 some odd states that only require one plate located on the back of the car. In those states, I believe it's more than legal to do whatever you want to the front of your car.
I was hoping for the states that required both front and back plates, that you could just get the Euro plate for the front at least with your rear state issued plate numbers or whatever match. But it looks like that would illegal too.
