Default Looking at 02 audi a4 3.0q

I just regesterd here on the site because i got into an accedent monday night and just found out that they will be totaling out my car, i HAD a 2001 b5 passat GLX 2.8 and loved every moment of driveing it. that being said when i went to a local used car dealer and found they had a 2002 audi a4 3.0 quattro i HAD to take it for a test drive..... driveing it it seems to be solid only one light on the dash that is a flashing something that looks like a fog light but the fog lights are working fine. the carfax shows that it had major front end work at 100k like water pump timeing belt that type of stuff, it sits now at 130k and seems to be in great condition. i know with my passat there was alot of stuff i wish i wouldve known before i bought it so im here to kinda ask the same. ive searched and after reading alot on this site i went back and made sure that the ac blows cold, the fan isnt stuck on, and the sunroof works fine. i also checked all the windows and the regulators seem fine, other than some interior parts like ***** and stuff that are scrached upm and the fact the radio doesnt get any FM signal that seems to be it......

so to conclude, what other type of stuff should i double check, and second what does the foglight msg on the dash mean? ohhh ive talked them down to 7700$ from 11k to much? thank you and i hope this forum is as informational as the vwvortex was for my passat

did you check to see if the headlights were aligned property? I have an 03 A4 3.0 quattro. Make sure all the recall repairs were done too. its a fun car to drive for sure though.

The owner's manual should tell you what the icon means. It could be a bad bulb somewhere or more serious. The prices sounds reasonable -- I paid $13k for a 2003 A4 3.0 MT6 with 69k miles two years ago. Your only other option is to take it to a shop that knows Audis and have it inspected for $100. May be the best investment you ever make.

Is it any one of these lights? This is from a Lexus, so not all are the same, but the majority are universal.

its the sign for the foglight. after takeing it to an audi mech. they informed me that i have a knock on my lifters, most likeley need to drop oil pan and clean it, also that my front engine mount is broken, both of them he says he can do for about 1500, the foglight light apparently is caused because the headlamps arnt properly aligned

That is not a foglight warning... Is the dipped headlight warning. The car you're looking at is a 3.0 with xenon self leveling headlights, and they have a motor to level them, when the motor fails, you can replace the headlight for about 1200USD, or maybe it just needs aligntment with a VAG com tool, which I doubt. The knock on the lifters wouldn't be fixed for about 1500 if there is any knock, that would be a sign of something else damaged and a possible timing belt job in need.

that light is indeed the leveling warning... after my accident I needed the motor replaced, the damn collision shop failed to realize that I have the self leveling headlights and skipped it til I brought it back to them and showed them the light.

You probably need a new motor.
