Exclamation Was looking at B5's, but found a B6...What to do? I wanta buy soon!!!!!!

For weeks now I have been looking at several 2000-2001 B5 models. I stumbled on a B6 w/90k miles, Quattro, 5spd, new clutch, factory rear wing spoiler, blk leather, etc. Seems to be a nice clean car. My biggest hang up has been the timing belt/wp issue with ALL of them. Some I have looked at have had the inspection done at the dealer and some have not. I can probably get into this one (B6) cheaper than the 2 B5's I have been looking at which will free me up to do the TB/WP right off. Is there anything I should look for different on the B6 from the B5? Should I be worried that the clutch has been replaced at 90K? The guy said he did it because it was letting out at the top and thats why he did it. I haven't ran a car fax yet, but will. I am going to look at it tomorrow. I really liked the B5's, but the B6 is a little more updated looking to me with what appears to be the same drive train. I need some input on this model. Thanks in advance for the help!

Well what's the price difference on the B6 & B5's you've been looking at? I would avoid the 2000, it had a few hiccups in the past. 2001's and B6 are the exact same drivetrain. The only difference is the aesthetic portion of them.

The B5 has 72k miles and is $8500. The B6 has 90K-92K and is $7000.

B6 FTW!!! Like euro_2nr said if your looking at b5's try to avoid the 2000's. Check out the interior of both. See which one you like more. I think the B6 is slightly bigger. But its what you like more. Where are you located at?

I'm guessing its an 02

Do a compresion test on the B6. See where that stands. If the B6 looks well taken care of then I'd go with the B6. The miles could just be hwy. But it could've been a rough 92k. That comes to your personal decision

you seem pretty anxious to get your car. But IMO, relax and take your time. don't make a hasty decision. a car is a pretty big purchase, you know?

I'm going with the the 2002 B6. I went down yesterday and looked at it. Nice clean car. They are putting a new new clutch and pressure plate kit in it tomorrow. I went ahead and ordered the timing belt overhaul kit with the correct Pink antifreeze to be done as well. I got either a 10 or 12 piece kit to replace as much as I could while I was in there. They are also putting new tires on it as well. CV boots looked good. Not busted or cracked. Car fax was clean and lots of service recored on there. Regular oil changes also and the dip stick shows (no sand paper marks where they rubbed the build up off). A little residue in the oil filler cap, but nothing major. I am pretty fired up about it... I guess I will pray and hope it is going to be a good car.

I am going to go with synthetic as well. The dealer used Castrol full synthetic 5-40. I think I might use Mobil 1. What do you think I should go with? I live in TN and have 4 seasons here.
