Default this makes no sense FWD > AWD?

according to this brochure http://www.audiworld.com/model/a4/04/04a4sedan.pdf

FWD
0- 50
Manual Automatic
5.8 sec. 5.8 sec.
0 - 60
7.8 sec. 7.8 sec.

AWD
0 - 50
Manual Automatic
6.1 sec. 6.4 sec.
0 - 60
8.1 sec. 8.5 sec.

how is the FWD Faster at acceleration than the AWD? this makes no sense

also the MPG is better on a FWD? wtf

it was probably done on dry pavement, where the quattro wasn't needed.... so the quattro car that is heavier was slower and drank more gas

AWD will always be slower than RWD given same motor specs on a straight line acceleartion.

heavier, more losses before power gets to wheels, RWD is best setup for drag due to weight shift during acceleration.

FWD should beat AWD given the low hp and torque of the A4-->less weight shift = more power able to push car forward

mpg is same deal, more moving parts before wheels = less mpg

AWD might be quicker off of the line because of the lunch, but it they both stock, fwd will catch up really soon.

it makes perfect sense...

FWD is lighter and has less drivetrain loss so it will be quicker in the 1/4 mile/ 0-60....... however as i didnt buy my car for doing 1/4 mile races, i bought it for the twisties! put a FWD vs AWD and see who comes out on top!

Im just shocked people didnt know this. The awd will be faster when the power builds up (right around 300whp or so) but not until then.

Papa, ill take the passat against yours in the twistys, you would be suprised what a good driver and rear sway bar can do

I figured the TT would just be to unfair, and yes, it to is fwd
