Be ready to invest a bit of $$$ in the Audi. As much as I love my Audi, it can be a hassle. I would definitely explore the common problems area and be ready for the worst. Other than that, enjoy
You'll have fun with it!

If i have the same problems with the A4 that i had with the C220 then im giving up on cars and going to get a horse and cart !
I think the car comes with the manual, but im not due to pick it up till next weekend. So i just wondered if anyone knew where i could read one online ?

Yeah, I thought about the whole horse and a cart idea too....hmmm....it may be an alternative...haha..j/k. You should be fine...."just be prepared for the worst and hope for the best." One quote I love!
Luckilly you have the TDI engine, here in the states it wasn't available during the time. The TDI is bullet proof so as long as you keep up on your maintenance you should be pretty trouble free. I do hope you got a quattro though, if you got a FWD CVT, you're fucked worse than you were with mercedes.
The Mercedes was just a nightmare, electronics failed many a time. Luckly covered under warrenty BUT thats now ended and im scared to drive it !
The Audi is a newer car than the Merc. Its a 1.9 TDI SE auto, with a s-line kit.
Hopefully getting it tomorrow !!
Didn't realise this was a American site....... sorry.

Basically it means that instead of gears, there's some sort of apparatus (usually belts & pulleys, not sure what's in the Audi version) that varies the "gear ratio" based on engine load, vehicle speed, accelerator position, etc. They typically drive very smoothly, but the one in A4s is known to fail expensively. In the states, it can cost $7,000 (~ £4,600) to replace that transmission.
2WD automatics are CVT, hence the concern from the other people posting in this thread. Basically, if you're getting an automatic, you want to be sure it's a quattro, and if you're getting a 2WD, it had better be a manual trans. Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for pain.
