Long story short... My car sat on a lot for several months and had a dead battery when I got it back.
On the way to the gas station (tank was on reserve) the car started to misfire and run rough, flashing CEL, etc...
I replaced the fuel filter, had the injectors professionally cleaned, replaced all plugs, and still get misfires. The VAG-com reading complained about # 5 cyl so I swapped coil packs, and still get the same errors...

i didnt read all of that bc its greek to me. the misfire didnt follow the coilpack?

 

Nope! That is what led me to believe there was a fuel delivery issue so I sent the injectors to be cleaned and tested.
The car only has 27k miles on it.

 

I would check voltage at the cp connector and follow the harness back from there.

 

Here is what you do, go to any audi or vw dealer and purchase AUDI sparks and coil packs.might be pricey for you, I have 4cl. same thing happened to me after I picked mine up, it was sitting at the dealers for a while. Worked for me and you will save time from getting a new cat put in.

 

Oh and did you only swap cl 5? Was told by the dealer that if you are swaping then you need to swap them all.lol (swapping)
