Default My friends 03 1.8T

Hey guys, I don't mean to be a douche but my buddy just picked up his 03 1.8T quattro tip and as he's driving it home from the dealership, his oil light came on. He says he put 2 quarts of oil in it, 10w-30 fully synthetic.. now I told him I use 5w-30, his car won't go over 40mph and it's making a weird noise.

His car also threw a CEL and he mentioned the salesmen put $15 worth of gas in it before he picked it up. Now I think the guy must have put 87 octane gas in it to cause what could be a pinging, but I'm not really sure. Any info or input would be greatly appreciated.

In the mean time I just told him to call the dealership back -

ok we're thinking theres too much oil in the car, and its the catalytic converter

do a proper oil change, and if you did put 87 in to the car dilute it with premium as soon as possible, maybe run some seafoam through

Has he checked the dipstick? I don't see too much oil not allowing the car to go over 40 tho... I would do like borninrussia3 said, and get the oil changed.

Have you checked the codes? Sounds like it's in limp mode. Did it come from an audi dealer?

Nein..it's at the Audi dealership now. They're prob gonna rape the dealership he got it from for fixing it. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the a4 back

He may be able to pick that car up cheap and then fix the problem. Doesn't really sound like a bad motor, maybe turbo, but that's not all that expensive if he could get the car for 5k or something.
