Default Navigation - Audi or Aftermarket?

I know I just posted another thread about iPod integration, but this is opening up a whole other can of worms, so I will keep these threads separate.

My car: 04' A4 1.8T Quattro Ultrasport w/Bose 6cd.

I think I would like to add navigation to my car, no... the "Tom-Tom" option will not work for me. I have no need to use the thing anywhere else other than the car. Plus, I like the integration/sort-of factory look, and cleanliness is a must.

On ebay you can find the Audi RNS-E for around a grand. Are these things even worth it? They are NOT touch screen, correct? Do they have iPod capabilities?

Would I be better off going with an aftermarket unit that has navigation and ability to integrate an ipod. I really like some of the Pioneer units that can change to red illumination (again, the cleanliness/oem factor).

Anyone have any advice as to which unit to look at?

I just found out about a bad *** GPS. Its a Knight Rider edition and I like it. I am like you I was trying to find something that kept my car looking oem but who can resist a Knight Rider GPS that can say your name.

If you're talking about this:

That's just plain tacky and ridiculous, no offense.

The Audi Rns-E would be the righteos thing to do and compliments the interior well. Has SD memory sticks for your music, way better than burning cds. I'm sure you could hook up the Ipod w/o problems. This is the route I would of taken but my g/f gave me the Alpine double din as a gift. Can't go wrong with freebies.

Either the Pioneer AVIC unit or the RNS-E's are the best looking and most functional IMO. Both have Ipod hook ups, navigation, touchscreen and bluetooth.

the audi rnse is what i would go with for sure, if i had the money. some ppl sell them for under a grand on ebay. my only question is that i have the audi concert right now with the thermostat right under it and under that an open space. wouldnt the rnse move around the thermostat?

Wow, I've never seen a concert HU on a B6. They were all pre 00's. Well if you can post pics I'd be helpul. Otherwise I imagine you can use that open spot under the thermo and put the heating unit in there so that leaves you with the double din open space up top. But I wouldn't know until I see it
