Default Need Help With DV Install

OK so i'm installing a new dv (can't even explain how much i hate audi for using those hose clamps) Anyway, when i was trying to cut the clamp for the vaccum line i snapped the barb that goes into the hose off. It stuck in the hose now, can i just cut the hose a little bit? Or will that screw up the hose or the seal it will make? Also i noticed all the walls of the hoses look wet, like they have a small coating of oil. Is that normal? I'm doing the install now, so if anyone has advice i would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks

I don't see why cutting the hose would cause any problems as long as it still reaches ok.

ya I did the same thing, there was more then enough hose so I just snipped a bit off. just make sure its not cracked and you clamp it back on tightly...

The one-time hose clamps are a PITA to take off. I just wedged a small Phillips screwdriver in between the clamp and the folded-over area to wedge them apart. Then, it's just a little work to bend the one tab out of the way. The whole thing took me less than 1/2 hour from start to finish. If you're still lost, do a search... there's quite a few write-ups on DV installs.

the install is quite easy

1. remove belly pan
2. remove 3 clamps on DV (NOTE orientation of DV before removing!)- use L pick or small screw driver to pry the bitch ***** one time use audi clamps apart, top small line snip it off and use a zip tie on the new one.. have a dremel handy to cut them off if u cant get them
3 install your new DV (remember how it goes?)
clamp it in...
4 reinstall belly pan
5 test drive
