I just bought a used 2002 A4 1.8T Quatro with the auto trans, it has 129K on it and after a week of owning it i noticed the following.
1. Blue smoke from exhaust at low RPM
2. Bad turbo surge( under hard accelaration car has good power then goes away then comes back and goes away, almost as if it gets boost then no boost)
3. loud clunk on passengers front side durning hard turns, both right and left turns.
4. turbo has a very high pitch wine under hard accelaration.

I am new to Audi but not to turbo cars, never worked with a turbo car that has a DV. I would like to hear what the pro's have to say. I would like to start moding the car but need to adress this stuff first. I was also told that the car had a brand new turbo just put in it along with coil packs. thanks

 

just did a boost leak check and found some leaks, when for a drive in manaul mode, it only does the realy bad surge in 3rd 4th and 5th gear, blue smoke still there. come on guys I am on SRTForums all the time helping new guys out. give me some input. Could surge be from a bad diverter valve? It looks to me like it is the stock one with 129K on it.

 

seems like u got a leaky gasket in your system. thats for sure.as for the surging have u replaced ur vac leaks. There are those stupid little check valves that also get corrided and let air escape so look into those. I know i posted a diagram recently for vac lines. Might want to search my name and pull it out. That will help alot to give u a better prespective of where things are. Good luck need anything else lemme know.
