Default need help please

Please help me. My 02 audi a4 idle jumps up and down just today. While this is going on the car will shake. Even at a point where it just drops to 0 rpm and shuts off. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to have to go to my mechanic and give him more money than I need to. Is there a misfire and I need to change the spark plugs or something else. Like I said any help would be great. Thanks

Do u have a Check Engine Light On??? If yes, try to get a Code, you can do it for free at AutoZone.
Coilpacks or spark plugs- are the first things come to my mind.

If it's a mis-fire the CEL should flash to warn you while it's happening

Even if you don't have a CEL/MIL, pull the codes (AutoZone will do it for free if you don't have a reader/cable).

Went to my mechanic. One tube needed to be replaced and one coil was misfiring. Got those replaced. Sigh. Had to dig deep in my pockets again. Man 250 for the work done. That's only for immediate problem. My mechanic still mentions about the other stuff I need done. Does anyone in the oc so cal area know of a place where I can go

What I meant is I need a new mechanic or someone who is a lil cheaper. For the other stuff I need the two big ones anyway. Engine mounts 700 and axle work 500. Anyone cheaper in so cal. Let me know. Thanx

wow, learn to DIY, i was going to tell you its probably a boost, vacuum leak or check valve, after i installed my FMIC, i forget the hose connecting the DV and it did the same thing (racetec didnt put it in the box) i had to go to autozone and get something that fit.

get some hitachi E coilpacks for $115 from ecs and you will never have another fail

Can the coil packs be a DIY kind of thing. Just like replacing the spark plug wires. If so,I can do that when my rebate comes about. Well...still need to replace the back tires though. And the 2 other things are also on my mind. Man having a audi is starting to get into a real pain when it comes to maintaining it

all german cars are expensive, start learning to DIY or start making more $

CPs are a EASY DIY! they just unclip then pull off, the hitachi E s have two bolts that hold them down
