New to Audis
Hello,
I am thinking of buying an a4 b6 quattro sometime soon, as my Jeep Cherokee XJ is rusting badly. I live in the Rust Belt where salt is spread 6 months out of the year. I want an Audi for two reasons:
1) I'm told they don't rust
2) I need AWD for winter
I am hoping that there's nothing about these cars computer-wise that forces owners to take them to a dealer and get robbed after working on them.
Are there any weak spots like a/c problems, electrical, rust, etc.?
What is the best engine/trans combo from the maintenance standpoint?
I will be happy to hear anything anybody has to say about these things.
I'm retired and do all maintenance myself - I have the time, and I keep my vehicles very well maintained. It's a hobby.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I too am retired and prefer to do my own maintenance if possible. I have a 2004 A4 B6 3.0l quattro. I have owned it about 10 months without any problems. Get a car with maintenance records to determine what has or has not been done.
I don't know about Audi's not rusting, seems to me any car will rust.
