Now everyone's gonna want one....
The data I've found yes it does put down slightly (within .5-.6) faster(quicker) times than manual both cars being bone stock(even heard of a 10 sec 1/4mi cvt) and yes the advantage of staying in optimum rev range on top of not losing time to shifting or shift points and waiting for the engine to reach its optimum power continues to be a benefit with every performance mod. And as to if it can it would have been done I agree somewhat... I haven't been able to get much info on the tranny from any forum or google searches so it occurs to me many have probably not tried or would even have the opportunity because most go with Quattro which the CVT was not available on(b6) not sure about current models. I'm **** about maintaining and servicing my car. Having worked on cars my whole life, privately and at a few shops it's usually a lack of maintenance that ends up requiring the car to be repaired. I do not "beat" on my car, under my ownership it will never be in a "race" or takin to the track. If I can smoke most the cars that challenge me at a light i'm gonna keep smilin everytime I watch the odometer climb
Did I see any "proof" no, I called him on the phone so I didn't get shown any results nor did I grill him for examples of this as I was asking him to take time to answer my question(with no benefit to him other than he is helping someone out) and I'm not into challenging information I receive from professional resources(if he has no credibility I doubt the guys at Carousel AUDI/PORSCHE would defer to him like he's an authority, or that he would have lasted very long in his position if he has a habit of providing **** advice). I worked at a local (twin cities) repair shop before and had spoke with him briefly about tuning the cars but that was before I actually owned one. He always came across as a professional who knows his ****, and he didn't try "selling" me their services because he knew I'm a DIY'er(i respected that).
In short he appears to be a guy who knows a hell of alot more than me, or anyone I've met to date, about AUDI's inside and out. This is not the first Audi service guy I've spoke with, another i'd met says that the CVT is no more problematic than any other transmission on the Audi's and that if I researched it I'd agree. Said they get a bad rap because when a problem does occur the tranny, like Darkprodo stated, gets replaced not repaired.
The CVT in the b6 also does not have the "belt" that is common with other CVT's from other manufacturers it has a "link plate chain" so the stretching and slipping that occurs with other CVT's does not appear to be a downfall of this transmission. I think that some of the "weakness" comes from people who are not very familiar with the what differences between a Honda's CVT vs. an Audi's are.
I was just happy that I can continue my upgrades. Keep an eye out. If and when it fails I'll do my best to post the why.

^ If you want a auto and be faster than a manual, you have to get a R32/TT with DSG! The DSG will shift way faster than any human can and it more than makes up for the slight loss in the powertrain. Also, there are people with gt40r's running stock drivelines
Yeah I was still pretty skeptical about it myself. However from my research I've been discovering that the Traction Fluid (specially designed **** for CVT's is the weakest link in the chain
I found an upgraded fluid for any CVT'ers who may be interested and found some really interesting information(below). That santotrac fluid is over $200.00 gal though.

If you want to understand why the lubrication is the so important and how the Theory of CVT link chain works check out:

and just in case people dont believe it was me driving

Hahaha, I like the "fastest shifts we've seen" comment.
Are CVT's even twin disk? Never cared much for em, never will. And people haven't modified CVT's because they prefer quattro. There's a 3076r FWD on AZ and he chose MT. CVT's just suck dude, live with it and the crystal blue paintjob
