Smile Please Help....Air Conditioning.

I have posted about this previously with no response but hopefully the third time is the charm...lol. My cars ac stopped working about 3 months ago I would say. It was working when I bought the car from a dealership last august. I work at a small repair shop which my father owns and we do mostly body work but also do mechanical work on our personal vehicles and we are a bit baffled about why my ac is not working properly. We sucked it all down and recharged it and it is accepting a charge but no cold air comes out of the vents. When we did go to charge it originally it was low on 134 so i assume there is a leak. We think the compressor is working but is hard to tell because there is no external clutch to engage it. I don't hear it kicking on like on other vehicles but my father thinks its working. Our next step is the dryer and maybe replacing that. The compressor is a very expensive part and I would rather not change it. Any ideas on how to narrow it down and see if it is actually the compressor or the dryer? Thanks...

Look inside your car to see if the "econ" button is lit up. If it is, there may be a whole slew of problems, but essentially it means the compressor is not running for some reason. Recently my AC wasn't working either and I noticed my econ light was on. I took it into the dealer and turns out I had a bad "High pressure sensor" and it wasn't allowing my AC to function properly. Check out the light and maybe that will tell you something.

Thanks for the tips. My ECON does stay lit also so now I can narrow it down to the compressor.

We just ordered that high pressure switch from Audi and we will start from there. Anything else to look out for?

I don't know If it's the problem though because why would I be low on 134 if just a sensor is bad...

Im glad you figured out your problem! I was low on 134 as well and I'm not really sure why that was. What I do know is that it feels great to have cold air blowing again!

Hey, maybe we have the same problem? Take a look at my thread and let me know if it sounds familiar. I'm dying in this heat!
