well. here is my problem, couple days ago My temperature gauge started to act funny, it shows the normal temperature and all of a sudden drops to the lower temp, and stays their. after a couple of minutes goes up again, and then down again. Any ideas? thanks

i dont know if i have a problem but what i notecing is that my gauge is always in the middle ...perfectly in the middle ( after it heats up of course)
but sometimes my car feels like its over heating , i get heat comming in my car from under the wheel. it gets so bad that i have to roll down my windows on a cold night. it feels as if the heater is on (trust me its not on) i look at my gauge and its right in the middle.
when i eventually pull over i pop my hood and it feels hotter than usuall, but again my gauge says its fine.

i fee like i have the opposite of that you guys got going on

 

Mine registers sometimes.. and sometimes it doesn't. I guess I need a new sensor. Everytime I take ot to the shops it is working. My luck....

 

I did a computer test on mine, and it gave me strange code, which nobody knows its meaning. I will change my sensor anyway, and see if it will fix the problem.

 

I researched it and it is the CTS (coolant temp sensor). It is a common failure. It requires a sensor, clip and rubber seal. It all totals about $12-$20 in parts. I am ordering mine today. It appears to be a 10 min DIY.

 

Can someone post some picture which shown how to change the temperature sensor?
I am having difficult to located where is the temperature sensor!

I have the same problem as Thursdaysstrike, i call it the autmatic-sizzle-me- heater haha, it does get very hot and i bet if you have driven in the summer weather, you either get out of the car sticking to ur seat, or the hood is the temp of a fryin pan(ive got black on black) so that never helps anything. Now depending if your chipped you might be running higher temps. I have Revo and their known for running higher engine temps than most others.

Now if its not sensor problem and its just the the needle is not where it should be, i saw on Fotki of someone actually goin into their cluster(and almost like turning the hands on a watch) and moved their needle back its appropriate place. I wouldnt call it a 100% fix, but it might be more telling of the true temp then.

 

yeah you need to replace your coolant temp sensor. Did mine myself and it took me prolly bout a half an hour to do. It's a very small work space so small hands work best! The write up that I used was on www.a4mods.com. Good luck!
