Default Rattling Noise, someone help please.

I recently started to hear this rattling noise coming from my car when I press on the gas peddle. It only happens when i'm slightly pressing on the gas peddle or if i'm going up hill. When I accelerate and give it a lot of gas the sound goes away. It tends to happen when i'm driving at normal speed and my foot is slightly on the gas peddle. If the car is stationary there is no noise. Does someone have any idea what this might be?

Hallo there. I've been experiencing the same problem since the last two months. I posted the same problem the way you described too. You are the third person with the same problem. Me and someone else happen to have posted the same problem with no reaction from the forum users.
I'm planning to fix the situation when I happen to go home in the next three months. Should you happen to have found the solution to the problem will you please let me know.
The dealer told me it might be the gearbox. Which I doubt. I had appointment last week Friday which I cancelled cause they were demanding a lot just to trace the problem with fixing not included.
The rattling sound I hear happens mostly in the third gear while under 2000 rmp and only when going up hill. It's noticeable when the weather is hot. Hope you trace what the problem is. Cheers

Pa4ul affirmative it's coming from the front, it's for sure the motor area. I just got the timing belt and water pump changed in February. After a month while I was changing oil I came to realise the water pump was leaking. Took the car back to the garage and they got it fixed without charging a cent with a new water pump. They said all their product is guaranteed for three years. The car runs perfect, except this rattling, pinging or knocking sound that comes when am in 3rd gear while going uphill and it's duration is only seconds. It happens mostly when the weather is above 18*c.
For instance in the last five days it has been raining and I haven't heard a sound even for a second. I got appointment on Thursday. My worries are if the weather is going to be the same they won't be able to trace the sound.
I've been reading the net in the last one month. Some say it might be the gearbox, clogged carbon in egr valve, wrong oil used, carbon in the motor, spark plugs and you saying the cam shaft tensioner failing.
I don't know if Edwin is experiencing the problem the same way I do.
Edwin pardon me for using your thread space.

can u reproduce the sound while in park just by rev'ing the engine? Im just wonderin if you can single out the sound. I could even think that it might even be something as simple as the heatshield being lose near the airbox.

Pa4ul I revved the car in idle. Sounds perfect. There is no sound whatsoever. It's not a sound I hear regularly. It only sounds when the weather is hot and in 3rd gear, under 2000 rmp, under 30kmh and only while going uphill.

P.S. Been raining for the last five days, the weather was under 3*C. Haven't heard a click whatsoever. I bought the car five months ago. Getting to know it better. When I happen to be near the engine bonnet I can feel heat of the engine. My coolant reservoir is perfect and temperature gadget of the car is good too. No abnormalities whatsoever. I checked the service book of the car. November last year they happen to have changed all the spark plugs while the car was in service. I've read incorrectly gapped spark plugs will cause engine knocking and pinging. But can this happen only in hot weather? Thank you in advance.

Engine Knocking:

Engine knocking, or engine pinging, is a classic sign of an engine that has incorrectly gapped spark plugs. Engine knocking is the result of incomplete or delayed engine combustion, especially under acceleration.

what type of gas do you use? Cheap or bad gas can causing knocking in the motor. though i imagine the knocking you hear it fairly loud to be head while driving.

I'm using unleaded 95. It's the cheapest than unleaded 98. 80% of the people use unleaded 95.

I just replaced my cam chain and tensioner to combat an issue much like yours!

I took my car to the mechanic the other day. He said it had to do with the type of gas i was putting in my car. I personally think that's bogus, Since i bought my car I've only put the best octane for it which is 91 out here in California. Then he tried to tell me that it was the different types of brand of gas I was putting in the car. Saying i should only stick to one Gasoline station. really? come on, that has to be the dumbest reason I've heard. My car is still making the noise, this coming week ill be taking it to another mechanic a better hopefully...
