2004 1.8T Quattro Wagon with 97K- just had car towed to my independent mechanic's shop last week after it wouldn't start. I never had any warning lights ever in my four years of ownership... and none were showing at this time.

Fuel pump was replaced and oil changed.
Next day I got a check engine light - brought it back and scan said "small evap leak" they cleared the code and it did not come back.

Two days later, EPC light comes on - bring it back to shop. No codes present and they look everything over... car runs fine.

One day later, red oil light comes on briefly then goes out. Pull over check the oil level. Seems a bit high on dipstick. Now that I did some research, I learn that there is also an orange oil light? I am truly color blind and now question the color of the light!

I have read horrible things about the red oil light in these forums - if the light were to come on then not return, does it mean that oil pressure is now correct, or could there be some issue even though the light is not back at all? Those of you who have had the oil light come on, would it show each time you tried to start the car and or drive it? I only drove it about 5 minutes after I saw the light today.
