Default seafoam question

i have seen on other forums about seafoam, all have read is positive and i came to the conclusion i wanna put half of a can in my crankcase and half in gas tank

my problem is that i have seen to many mixed opinions about weather it is best to drive 50 or so miles after adding seafoam or just let the engine run idle for 20 minutes so it can work its magic and i have heard people say it doesnt matter

ill take any advice, especially from people who used seafoam before

thanks in advance

It only takes me 20 mins to drive 50 miles, so I don't know what to tell you! You need a whole can in the tank though.

seafoam in the oil is to remove sludge.

Other sites I've seen where people use Seafoam, putting it in the gas tank cleans the injectors, putting it in the crankcase cleans out the sludge, putting it in the intake via a vacuum line cleans out yuor intake and combustion chanbers.

Follow the directions on the bottle, ite pretty specific as to what to do for each tratment option and how much to use. IIRC if you use a vacuum line to do the intake you do about a half can and then shut it down for a half hour and then drive it hard until it stops smoking. Put it in the crankcase and drive it at least 50 miles (I've heard some poeple going as much as a tank of gas though...again, read the bottle and do what it says) and then change the oil and filter. Putting it in your gas tank you do nothing unusual.

You can do a youtube search for "Seafoam A4" or something like that. When I did mine, I put 1 can in the tank, half in the crank case, and then put some in the intake manifold.

1 can for full tank of gas - might want to replace fuel filter after that tank is gone

1/2 can in crank case - change oil and filter after 50-100 miles

1/4 can in vacuum - let it sit then smoke it out as said

if the car is really high miles you might want to only do the fuel

BTW 50 miles in 20 minutes = 50miles/1/3hour = 150 mph !

good ****, Thanks alot, this is the first time i heard putting a full can into the gas tank but ill do that instead of the half can. and as far as the oil ill prob. end up driving around my town for 50 or so miles then go home to change the oil

ill post the results if i feel a major difference, the engine has 96k miles now and im sure it has not been done before. (bought it used with 93k miles on it)

i have read everything there is to read about timing belts and honestly i have no clue if the belt was done i was bad and did not do my research before buying the car

i did a visual inspection and i can still see the stamp on of the audi logo on the belt, but other than that and there being no cracks or any sign of wear in the belt thats the most ive checked with it

at this point i cant afford the timing belt job and im no where near experienced enough to even want to attempt to do it myself

trust me, this whole timing belt situation has made me lose sleep haha
