Possibly trading in my Cummins 3500 dually on Tuesday for an 02 A4 3.0 quattro. Anything I should know to look for when I'm checking this vehicle out? Any advice of any expected problems would also be appreciated. I don't really know what to look for when inspecting this car.
Thanks

look for any leaks/suspension/ maintance records.
Depending on how many miles, Timing Belt has to be changed at around 75K i think on 3.0

Don't buy!!!
I own an 03 A4 and would NOT recommend the 01-03 models to anyone, due to multiple problems that Audi pretends do not exist. But if you must this is what you have to look out for.
1. Make sure all gauges are working..fuel, temperature most problematic.
2. Heat / AC
3. When doing test drive listen to transmission esp from 2 to 1st
3. Oil leaks - On an 02 there would have to be tons look underneath vehicle.
4. Make sure oil dip stick is NOT broken - pull it out
5. There are lots of things that may come up later...ignition coil issues, leaking / broken hoses, maf issues etc
6. In other words, this car is overrated and expensive to maintain especially if you are not mechanically inclined.. My advice to my friends who all think I have a great car is...if you cannot afford a brand new AUDI don't buy one...
Hope this helps...

Yeah I have heard about the timing belt... how much does that run if I have somebody do it for me? It's at 62k right now.

I just had my timing belt replaced--it was $700 at an independent shop.Originally Posted by aquafresshness

I have an 03 A4 3.0. I'm on my third steering pump because there's a leak in the steering rack (fairly common problem).
I would check out wheel bearings--I've had to replace 2 of those and I'm at 69,000 miles. they're about $500 each--if I remember correctly.
Unless they give you a great extended warranty, RUN, don't walk away from this car.
Once I fix the steering rack (2k), I'm going back to Lexus.
