Angry skid plate FELL!!!!!!:(

so i was leaving work and i heard something unusual with my car...so i pulled over and the skid plate fell! i dont know what caused this cause i am so carefull with my car! people are saying to take it off, and some say get another one..(my grandpop fixed it to the best of his ability so i can drive it)
but now im pariniod about it...
does the skid plate need to be there, or should i just throw down some money for a new one?
thankss!

Skid plate prevents damaging other components especially for off-road driving. It is always better to replace the skid plate or the rough terrain might damage the components completely.

I do plan on putting one back on just not that cheap plastic one that tore off. I like that aluminum one mentioned in an earlier post.

We have a lot of snow this year, wondering how much will get packed in there.
