Default slow front wipers

hi recently my wipers started wiping really slow on my 2003 a4 tdi sometimes not even completing the full wipe cycle they would stop n freeze half way across the screen so rather than start swapping out motor n linkage I just gave all areas a good spay with wd40 on motor / linkage and all is now well so I hope this thread will be usefull to someone even if only a temp/cheap fix

Definitely, it is better to oil them rather then spending on replacing the motor. Good suggestion. Thanks.

You need to take out the linkage and clean and lube the spindles for each wiper. Common problem, had to do so with my 2003 a4.

I was thinking the same thing when mine started having troubles. And then about two weeks later it was siezed...

If you have the time, they come out much easier if you can move the spindles still before they totally sieze.

Since mine were siezed I ended up bending the whole assembly trying to get them out. cost me another $100 for the wiper assembly arm eventually.

Good luck!

If you can rent a front end puller kit, they usually come with a puller that works really well at popping those wiper arms off the spindle. If you can clean up and lubricate those spindles that'll save you from having to purchase a brand new wiper assembly.

The assembly on my B5 were so rusted that I had to go with a brand new assembly, to the tune of about $120.
