smoked the brakes
took the 05 a4 ultrasport 1.8t with apr chip up to the north Ga mnts. on Sunday and noticed brake fade down one hill. got to the bottom, and smoke was coming out of my left front caliper area.
My question is this, do I need to do brake flush? and do I take the pads off and scuff them to reoved possible glaze?
or other possible repairs maintenence etc?
thanks,
Scott

How do they perform now? Brakes do smoke from time to time, depending on use and how you cool down. If they fade really easy now or the pedal feels soft, bleed your fluid. If the brakes feel normal, but don't stop as well, it might be your pad. You can try bedding in your pads to see if you can save them. If you have vibration, it's most likely warped rotors.
Under heavy or extended braking OEM pad material will definitely smoke. Chances are you have glazed over the rotors. At the very least I would remove the pads and rotors and scuff them with a sanding disk. This should help with the brake fading/shutter.

An APR chip doesn't make your sedan a pike's peak race car... You need to be careful when pushing the car beyond its design limitations... I used to live in Southern California and after F&F: Tokyo Drift came out kids were running the canyons and crashing or rolling off a cliff all the time.
