Symphony II / 2 - static/electrical noise in speakers, no sound
2004 A4
Symphony II
Searched other threads; still can't fix.
Radio still powers ON but no sound. Just static noise.
Started as loud popping noise, similar to a home speaker, once the ignition is ON then will emmit the static noise that responds when accelerating.
Radio will not accept tape adapter; it says 'No CD' but there is.
Reset the radio, same problem.
Took the radio out, unplugged/reconnected the connectors, same.
I ended up unplugging the one for, I believe, the amp? The one above the power. Just to kill the annoying sound.
Will be checking the fuses and possibly a different HU over the weekend.
Any suggestion would help.
Thanks in advance.

Thank!
Thank you for posting your solution. I have been dealing with this issue for 6 months now. BTW, did yours ever "sometimes" work? Mine used to. Now is completely dead. No sound, static, and a high pitch noise that changes with acceleration.

Hi rowfour. Glad you had that quick fix, but where did you get the replacement HU and what is the going rate? Please let me know.

HU stands for head unit (the actual radio), you can find it on eBay for about 100-300 used. Be aware that if you don't get the unlock code from the seller you will need the VIN from the car the unit was pulled and an Audi dealer will charge you around 50 bucks to retrieve the code(they can do it for free if you call customer service). Another tip is to make sure you get the correct replacement, don't go by looks, find it by the audi part number (you can find this on a sticker once you pull the HU out. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Got mine from a local seller. $70 with the radio code. Good luck.
