ok so i have a 2002 audi a4 1.8T. The body has 100000 miles on it but the motor that was a factory replacement from audi only has 53000. Audi is wanting me to have the timing belt changed? First how long do timing belts last? The audi tech. told me 105,000 miles. My next question is: when audi put the new motor in would they have put a new timing belt in as well?

 

Timing belts have broken at 40k miles, but that is rare. I'd say change it at 75k, maybe 80, just to be on the safe side. The new motor should have had a new belt.
