Default Tps?!

Hi,

First post, so please bare with me!

I was travelling home on Friday, some 150 mile journey and all motorway. About 50 miles in, travelling approximately 75mph, the car started to cough and splutter. The juddering and jerking got progressively worst until after another 10 miles down the road the car stalled with and engine management light one. I let my foot off the accelerator and reapplied, the car fired back in again. A little scarey in the fast lane over taking some lorries!

I got the car home by accereating / letting off, as it wouldn't take 10% throttle,.. so cuising speed. Weird! People following me must have thought I was a loonatic!

My mate stuck it on his diagnostics tool (not sure which one he uses), and it flashed out the Thottle position sensor, the only error code. He replaced the pedal, which I believe has the tps. All good over the weekend, but I didn't try the motorway..... until today! Same again, cutting out at 10% throttle, although again,.. it didn't start doing it until about 40/50 miles in. And again it was a progressive thing.

Anyone got any ideas?

Paul

ive never heard of a TPS causing those kind of problems.it sounds more like coil packs by the symptoms, but those would throw a code. do you have the new coil packs installed?

As far as I know, no - well, not in the 8 months I've had the car anyway.

Wouldn't the coils be a permanent problem, not a sort of intermittant problem.

ive had similar problems. once was coilpacks. replaced all of them cause when one goes the other usually arent too far behind. other time was mass airflow sensor. that was a "my bad"... touched a "hot" wire from the battery to cold air intake when wiring amp lol...
