These seem reasonably good: http://www.eriksbikeshop.com/ride/pr...ffset=2&s_id=0. (No affiliation with the link; it just happens to be the website of a bike shop chain near me.)

I've got no personal experience with the product, but I'm considering buying it myself. I was hoping to do a roof rack, but the audi/vw base carrier bars are too much money, IMO, and then you have to add the bike carriers on top of that. All told it was going to be like $700 IIRC. As much as I don't like the idea of a trunk mount as well, $120 vs $700, well, not a difficult choice, really.

I tried the 2 most expensive yakima trunk racks. The first broke while i was going about 80 mph. The second kept sagging the entire 200 or so highway miles i used it. I dont think there is a way to keep trunk racks from sagging, so i returned it to get a roof system. Roof is soooo much better.

I looked into the bones originally and quite a few people, including a4 owners, had problems with it putting holes in the bumper.

Thanks fellow members...

I am going with the trunk rack, as roof and hitch options are expensive for just carrying 1 Bike...

In that case, thanks very much for the warning - I'll avoid that one. Maybe I'll just have to suck it up and go with the roof rack, but paying more than 5x as much vs the bones just burns. $120 I could see just spending and not feeling bad about it. $700, on the other hand, well, that's an APR Stage 1 + an upgraded diverter valve...

keep your eye on craigslist, i see cheap racks on there all the time. if you get the towers, 48" bars, and a bike mount, all you would need would be the q clips for an a4, unless the rack came off of an a4.

Thanks for the idea. My local craigslist seems to have some reasonable-ish options, but nothing that's quite complete for what I'd need. I suppose I ought to check eBay as well, and I'll certainly keep looking at craigslist; I imagine something will pop up eventually.

I see them locally for 100-200 all the time, then you would just need the clips, which are like 50 i think. I watched ebay for a while, but didnt find anything too amazing.
