Question Turbo GLOWING!!!???

I came in from some heavy duty driving (I drove it like I stole it). I popped the hood. It was dark outside with no lighting. When I opened the hood I noticed something bright orange under the intake section. It looked like a light.... I took a closer look and something was glowing bright orange as in VERY HOT!!! If you look down at the engine it was to the left and looked as if it was attached to the exhaust manifold. I assume it was the turbo.... It was glowing! Is that normal?? Should it do that even after hard driving? It lost color and cooled of within minutes. Any advice??

I have never seen anything like it... Kind of cool looking as long as it doesnt hurt the car or something isn't wrong. Thx!

Well, if it continues to happen let the car run a minute or two before shutting it down after a hard drive. At least go easy on it the last few minutes of the drive. FYI, that's what a turbotimer does - it lets the car run and shut down automatically after you leave it so the oil can continue to circulate and cool the turbo down.

x2 especially if your running more boost, which creates a lean A/F ratio without fuel upgrades.

you can pour ice water over it when it's glowing like that to cool it down quicker, thats what all the pros do.

i'm no engineer...but quickly cooling down red hot metal doesn't sound like the best idea...couldn't that change the properties of the metal.
