Default twitter.com/mybrokenaudi : new experiment

I've created a twitter account for my 2004 audi A4 1.8 CVT which has had numerous problems. The purpose of this twitter account is to get Audi of America to recognize common problems with ALL Audis and VWs.

I'm hoping to gain enough followers and hoping you Audi and VW owners will tweet back to me with your problems. Using this communication networking tool will hopefully give us all leverage to get AoA to reimburse us for problems that are due to poor design. Regular maintenance costs and costs do to wear and tear are normal, but having stuff like broken gloveboxes, broken armrests, broken seat adjuster, faulty expensive Transmission Control Modules, engine sludge are not.

I plan on tweeting past problems with my car, current problems with my car, and will tweet my communication with AoA and any repairs and costs done.

I encourage you to follow me, get your friends and fellow Audi and VW owners to follow as well. The more light that is shined on the design issues of Audis and VWs, the better!

Give me suggestions on what else you think we should tweet about!

Thanks,

Todd

You are going about this in all the wrong way. If you have a problem with your CVT trans then im on your side, those should be recalled for several major failures.
But, broken glove boxes, armrests, seat adjusters and what not? You are trying to play the revolution card by trying to crucify a major company to get your way. You cannot prove to a company that a seat adjuster breaks because of "normal" conditions, who's to say that a 300lb man didn't drive the car before? You couldn't prove that. Using a tweet account to accomplish this makes my head hurt, you must be under 22 years old because you have no idea what you're doing.

I'm trying to take a DIFFERENT approach to accomplish things. It's an experiment. Is it going to work???? Is it going to accomplish anything? Probably not, but I'm attempting something different. No need to shoot me down, especially if you are a 'site moderator'.

I'm trying to arm myself with some leverage to give to AoA to get repairs done along with other audi and vw heads. I'm not trying to crucify a major company. I'm listing problems with my car in real time and looking for others to chip in.

What's wrong with using a twitter account to give bad press about issues with our cars? I have analysts at my work who deal with cars and their electronics and I'm sure a lot of them would be interested in following me.

If I'm going about this in all the wrong way? What route should I go?

Well, if you succeed, more power to ya. I have just been around the block and worked for audi for 5 years to know that they are a bunch of very intellegent and stingy people. If you want to go after them, don't go for the whole kit and kibboodle. Go for the CVT issues first, as they already have 5 or 6 TSB's for them as it is. Im sure if you push that issue you could get audi to create a recall repair, but that is still a long shot.

what would cause Audi to do a recall on the CVT, or certain components of it, would have to be a much larger scale then even uniting the AF and Audizine ppl all together. It would take a different demographic of people to participate like everyday people who bought the car and dont participate in the modding forums

No doubt, i just want to make him feel a little better i guess. Its destined to fail because audi is so secretive about what their problems are and they keep their customers in the dark. It won't make a difference if even if he gets 10,000 tweets about CVT's, audi doesn't give a hoot.

Sucks that you are having issues, I can understand your frustrations, and it may make you feel better, but slagging Audi on twitter to get it fixed is probably a waste of your time. Nothing mechanical is 100% and any car will have issues.

I had a '81 Audi 5000 that went half a million miles with no issues and had a 94 Honda that would just die on the highway (4 times in 3 years). That being said, I accepted that I had a good apple in my old Audi and a bad apple in my newer Honda, but never felt there was anything fundamentally wrong with the engineering. (Remember, these were the Audi's that 60 minutes reported would accelerate out of park and run over people, but turned out to be driver error - how 60 Minutes never got sued is beyone me)

I'd save the twitter campaign for Exploding Pinto's and Rolling Explorers. If you're that upset about your Audi I'd sell it and move on, but I warn you, you'll be back!

Ah, but did you know mercedes had the same problem with the pedals and paid off 60 minutes "allegedly" with several million dollars? If i ever met Dan Rather i would kick him in the *****
