ok guys i have a 04 a4 and yesterday i ran over those cement bolcking things in the parking lot and it completly ripped off the plastic/fiderglass under carrage part of my car. now my question is how important is this part? can i get my car washed without that part on? i plan on getting it fixed but i dont have the money right now. the dealer quoted me 355 280 for the part and the rest is labor. i need help

Well, it did its main job and protected the oil pan (look to make sure)... The other things it does is: help in cooling, smooth the air flow under car, reduce drag, reduce noise.. and some others I forget.

You should be able to find it used from shokan.com.

yah i looked and i havent seen any oil leaking yet. but would it be ok if i drove without it on for a while? what if it rains.... will i still be ok can i get the car washed. im just a little nervous cuz i dont know if their is anything thats not suppose to get wet under there

Audis, Mercedes, Chysler Crossfires, BMWs all have the belly pan for the reasons stated and to protect the driveway from oil drips (owner's of "expensive" German cars would be shocked to see oil leaks from their cars). Can you drive it w/o the pan -- sure. Will you have any problems, even if it rains -- highly unlikely. Will performance suffer -- not that you would notice. You might also look for used parts online or visit a junkyard.

Yeah that sounds high for parts, and it only takes 2 minutes to put it on assuming you didn't rip the fasteners off.

There's some stores online that sell the belly pan for about 130 dollars.
