Well it never ends

Pulled the stick on my 1.8T yesterday and observed white foam on the stick..

Pulled the oil filll cap and observed white foam there also..

So what do you think..Oil cooler?? Head gasket?? Change the oil and see what happens??

Any advise would be greatly appreciated..

Well, obviously coolant is getting into your oil somehow. My understanding is that the most common way for that to happen is via head gasket failure, so that's what I'd check on first. Regardless of the cause, *only* changing the oil is just a waste of 4 quarts of synthetic and a filter; you need to fix the problem that allowed the oil and coolant to mix before an oil change will be worthwhile.

 

Yeah I agree has to be more than just condensation...Anybody know if the 1.8T is prone to head gasket failure?

Its normal. If you make short trips (under 40 miles) between starting it and turning it off condensation will get into the oil causing that white film on the dip stick and oil cap. All 100 cars at the audi academy had that exact same issue, i highly doubt all 100 cars had blown headgaskets........
The 1.8T IS NOT KNOWN for blown headgaskets, just idiots driving with a stuck thermostat or blown water pump overheating the engine, that WILL take out a headgasket.

I should also note, the white film is more common on the east coast where humidity is higher.

 

did you pull the stick out from your hot or cold engine? it could just be condensation. if your exhaust has a white (? i think white...one color is oil and another is coolant) plume when you floor it, you know you have a head gasket leak. the water will boil off over time, especially over long trips. it will vent from the PCV to the turbo.

however, water is heavier than oil so if there was water in there, there's no way you can tell from the dip stick. maybe the foam is froth from the oil. if you overfill the oil level, you get frothy oil which can also damage your oil pump. how was the level? i'd get an oil change. any time i think i overfill, i get it changed out to prevent damage.
