Default wear sensors in rear brake pads of Quattro?

I am getting a worn brake pad sign in my A4 Quattro (2.5TDI). Most of what I've read suggests that only the front pads have wear sensors. However when I check the pads the rear ones are the ones that look worn not the front. So maybe the quattro has rear sensors? Any one confirm or deny this? Thanks

Well, I just had to have my rear pads + rotors replaced ('02 A4 1.8T Quattro), and the dashboard wasn't lighting up with anything (I was getting a grinding noise from the rear when stopping), so mine at least doesn't have wear sensors in the back. Based on that, I'd guess you've either got fronts that are worn more than you think, or a faulty sensor, or a faulty sensor wire.

I was told my A6 and 2003 A4 3.0 only have brake wear sensors on the front.

Most of the A4 1.8t came with sensors on the front brake pads, it was the very early B5 A4's that did not. I dont know any that came with sensors on the rear.

BTW it doesn't have to be the pads that are low, it could just be a bad plug that is causing the warning light to come on.

Been a while since I did my brakes, but I dont recall there being a connection for the rear pads for a sensor, so if i remember correctly, it is just the fronts that have a wear sensor.

The B5 never had any rear brake sensors.

Check the plugs on the front sensors. Sometimes the wire gets frayed or the plug cracks creating a break in the circuit and this causes the warning code.

Mine (04 3.0q) doesn't have sensor at the rear; only the front has it.

You have two sensors, one on each inner pad on the front and that's it.
