Weird Whirring Sound
Hello all. I have a 2004 A4 B6 3.0 6-spd with 60680 miles on it. Something interesting JUST occurred about half an hour ago.
As I was driving home ~50mph the car popped out of 6th gear and began making a whirring sound. As I put on the hazard lights, I tried to go back into 6th gear. When I let go of the clutch, the car stalled. After pulling over and stopping, I restarted the car and drove the last mile home. I didn't go beyond 4th gear but as I increased my speed, the whirring sound would also increase in volume.
No warning lights are illuminated on the dash. And I do have a 3rd party warranty that came with the car when I bought it used.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

I got the car with 55k on it.. it's at 60k.. and has been serviced according to the manufacturers recommended guidelines so if there is a flush or change included in any of those then it was done.
I dont think it's the clutch cuz reverse and gears 1-5 work.
Right now it's sitting at the dealership waiting to be fully diagnosed. Initial thoughts are that the transmission will be replaced.. however i feel like the 3rd party company will do everything in their power not do to it.
