Default Window wont go up...

So the window was working perfectly this morning..i left it down this morning, and now it wont go down..
i opened the panel and i took the motor off to see if its turning, but its not..
when i press the window switch it wont make any noise..
is it the regulator? the motor? or maybe i have a short circuit somewhere??
thank alot.

Try to use the main switch, on the driver's door; if it's the driver's door that has the problem then you need a new master switch, if is a passenger's door and the window rolls with the driver's switch is the affected door's switch. It could be as weel the cables going to the door.

ok, let's try this again:

If your window WORKS with the main switch but not with the passenger switch is more than likely the PASSENGER SWITCH...

If your window DOESN'T WORK with the main switch but WORKS with the passenger switch then it is your MAIN SWITCH...

It would also help if you say which window is the one causing the problem...

If you changed the main switch and it still isn't making any kind of noise, it sounds like the motor. When the regulator is bad, you still hear the motor turning.

It could very well be the motor or try this, Does the main switch control any other windows? Do you have lights on the switch? do your mirrors work? does your trunk release work? do your memory seats work when you press the memory number on the door? If you have a "no" on any of this questions then your problem lies on the cables going into the door where the hinges are.

Default I gots the same problem!

Sorry for the threadjack!! I have a good reason!

2002 A4 1.8T

My sons Prom is tonight! I need help ASAP!

His drivers side window won"t go up and it is supposed to rain.

The problem is exactly as Dan described it. No lights on the switch, the mirrors don't work.

What is teh fix for this? I noticed Dan said it was the cables going into the door where the hinges are.

Do I need to take the door apart? Is there one particular wire that needs checked out? Is it simply a matter of plugging something in?

Thanks!

any help is appreciated!

The way i put my window up, quick and it worked..
i had to to take the door apart, and then take the motor off, that way you can put up the window with your hands..

i have a yess to all of those Questions..
to my surprise, the window started working again for about an hour.. and now again..it wont go up..
Its not the cables, its not the regulator, the only thing that is left is the motor..
thanks guys..
