Default "worn out brake" sign issue! HELP!

Hey,

So i have a 2005 A4 and about 2 months ago, i've installed Akebono brake pads (w/sensors) on the front. Oddly, the akebono brake pad set came with only one sensor. Conclusion: only my front right side has the sensor connected. I installed the new brake pad on the left side and left the old sensor (from previous brake pad) connected to the sensor leading out from the car. Now I have the "worn out brake" signal displaying all the time after 2 months.

What can be the issue? Is it because:

a) Since I only connected one functioning sensor
b) There's sensor for the back brake pads (don't believe so)
c) My car is going crazy

And how do i get rid of this "worn out brake" signal:

a) Buy Audi brakes from Audi itself (if I can't find any manufacturer that provides 2 sensors)
b) disconnect the non-functioning sensor
c) Change the back brake pads
d) none of the above (in this case, please provide ur input)

Your great wisdom is very appreciated!!!

the pads on the front are the only ones with the sensor. Since you connected two different ones that's what's causing the problem, I think. Your best bet is to probably get a set that has both of the sensors, not from audi, but from another source, there's a lot of them out there. I have a brand named mintex.

You should only have brake wear sensor in the front (both front wheels), and none at the rear. The brake pads should come with two sensors, if not, they ship the wrong item. Unless, you purchased brake pads without sensors. But either way, you should receive pads with 2 sensors or no sensors at all. The reason you are getting the warning sign because the car suppose gets 2 feedbacks from 2 sensors but since now only gets 1 reading it thinks one of the brake pads is completely worn or something is wrong with it.

I see 3 ways to fix this...

1. Go get a new pair pads (doesn't have to be original Audi parts), make sure this time you get 2 sensors and replace them
2. Return your current pads and exchange for a new one. Tell them there is something wrong with the item.
3. You can short-circuit the sensor permanently. Here is the instructions: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel25.shtml (Look under the section says Break wear sensors)

Good luck!!

BTW, there are tons of pads with 2 sensors. Like I mentioned before, you either get 2 sensors or get none. It depends what type of pads you're buying. Somehow the one you received just got messed up. If you are getting a new pairs, try ECS Tuning or TireRack. They offer some good pads; of course, you can always go with genuine Audi.
