Default 06 Rough Idle (I think) Please Read

Hey all -

I just traded in my 04 3.0Q with 82k on the clock for an 06 2.0TQ certified with 17k on the clock. Love the new car, although I'm missing some of the features of the tech package....

Anyway -

When the car is stopped, but in drive (foot on the brake) I'm getting a noticeable amount of vehicle vibration from the engine. It's not like it's idling really low - it's consistent at about 900RPMs - and when I hit the gas and am driving around, it goes away. The sales rep tells me it's the fuel injectors (it goes away if I put it in park) but I'm not sure.

Again, this thing is certified, so if there's a problem, I want to get it fixed. However the 2.0T is new to me, so I'm looking to you B7 owners to tell me if this is something you experience as normal, or if this is something you haven't ever experienced....

Thanks!

The vibrations you are feeling are a normal behavior. The fewer number of cylinders a car has, the more vibrations you will feel while not moving. If you lightly tap on the gas with the car in park or neutral, you'll feel the vibrations decrease as the RPM increase. If there was something actually wrong with the car, most likely your car would have put up an error code, which you didn't mention it did. It is possible that the engine mounts are loose or something of the like, but its very unlikely. You could always bring it back to any dealership and have them check it out if you really feel that something is wrong, but most likely you will be without a car for a day and they will return it telling you everything is in order.

The vibration you're feeling is normal, you have auto/tip tranny right?

I have the same concern. I blasted it ('06)yesterday with a tankfull of V-Power andafterwoods it shook like it had a miss.

Not to bring up an old/dead topic, but I am looking at an '05.5 and noticed this same thing. It was way better in the 07 I test drove (but the 05 is $4k less and has more features, if slightly more miles.) The dealership is willing to put the double spoke wheels on the 05.5 to give me the same look as the 06/7s, but my big concern is with the vibration.

Is there anyway to lower the vibration. I could literally see the wheel shaking at idle.

im thinking its drive train related and not fuel injected

if it was fuel injected the vibrations would stop when the engine shuts off, not when it is put in nuetral ....the engine still runs in nuetral just the drive train is disengaged, once the drive train is enabled your vibrations start again right?

also.....does the car seem very sluggish and slow? because the low idle could be cuased by the engine running in ''safe'' mode....its a program that acts very similar to safe mode with a computer and causes the engine to idle very low and the pick up the car has is almost non existant.....for that to happen you would have to throw multple engine codes tho which i can;t reemember if you said happened

Thumbs down good to hear

I was having the same question when i tested out a car at the dealer......... most sale persons dont know how to answer anything except for , i want more money lol

have u guys ever played with the codes or have a website where i can go to?
on my a6 2.8, i was able to change one number from the code program, and with the key i was able to lower the windows and close them. Also at 15 mph, the doors would lock atuomatically.

i was wondering if that was possible with this car?
