Default 2005.5 A4 engine died while driving

Hi, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any feedback....

I was dricing down I5 and my car lost all power. i had to get over in the emergency lane and have the car towed to my local shop. First they imediately thought it was a timing belt issue, but the belt seemed to be intact and under tension, the car only has 87,xxx miles on it and up to date on all services. Turns out the timing belt was stripped in a approx 4" section of the belt, which is why the car wouldnt turn over.... After removing the valve cover we noticed that the exhaust rocker arms had snapped off and were broke, which indicated that the piston hit the valves.... i contacted Audi North Amercia and there is a 10yr 120,000 mile warranty on the high pressure fuel pump and intake cam. so i took the car to an authorized service center and had them inspect it. They went as far as removing the head and determined that all the valves were bent and i need a whole new motor...about $8,000 (i bought the car 5 months ago for $12,000) The service center also founf that the high pressure feul pump had worn out, this rides on the back side of the intake cam, it was so worn that it had actualy worn through the poppit and worn down the lobe that it rides on... My service center is sticking to the story that this is a timing belt failure. I have a friend that is a master tech for VW and his diagnosis is that the high pressure fuels pump was causing so much drag on the intake cam that it created so much stress it caused the belt to strip... Anyone have a similar situation or .02 cents they want to add??

Audi suggests the timing belt to be replaced at 110,000 miles. The timing belt is in perfect condition besides at the point that it stripped... Keep in mind the belt did not snap..

Thanks!

Agree with cam follower. The damn thing should be a mandatory recall IMO. I don't understand why Audi would wait 'til something like this happens before they address the issue. If it is determined that a worn through cam follower caused all this, AoA needs to take care of it. Don't let them or the dealer push you around. Good luck man.

The dealership has basically told me to get my car out of their shop.... I have requested that AoA sends out a technical field rep to look at my car. I want to hear it from Audi's mouth that they wont fix it or at least help out... Will let you know how that goes.

I'll get right to the point as I have put alot of time and energy into this car. I turn left epc light comes on and I have to turn off the car to get it going again. Any ideas on what it could be now as I've had continous issues with this car.Help please.

My initial thought is something with the traction control on that wheel could be causing a fault. Loose connection, bad sensor are two possibilities. Since it only happens when you turn left.
