2006 Halogen headlight reprogramming?
I've had a persistent problem with my halogen headlights. Frequently (but not always), the left headlight will appear to flicker a bit, and shut off, followed by a dashboard warning of "left headlight dipped". Turning hitting the headlight on/off switch will get the left headlight back again.
It appears to me that the headlight is not flickering on/off, but, rather, vibrating in some way as if there was a problem with the headlight positioning system (these lights roll up and set themselves.
A German car mechanic to whom I just took the car for its 75K service had never seen such a thing, but after looking into it a bit seemed to find an Audi bulletin reporting that the headlights needed to be reprogrammed. He was a bit confused by the bulletin, as while it said that it was a warranty repair, it made that statement as if it would be done under warranty regardless of the mileage (other bulletins make specific reference to "if the car in within the warranty period, then..." while this one just said "Warranty").
Has anyone heard of this issue?
Thanks, --sw
