2008 Audi A4 Lease?
Hi all,
Hoping someone can inform me as to what I am doing wrong in calculating a lease payment that a dealer has quoted me at.
They initially quoted me at $430/month, but when I work out the math I am getting $489/month... I was hoping to negotiate down the $430/month, but it's hard to do that when I don't have the numbers to justify that.
Here is the info:
$36,650 MSRP
$36,400 NET CAP COST
.0005 MONEY FACTOR
54% RESIDUAL FACTOR
DEPRECIATION FEE= ($36,400 - $36,650*.54) / 36
DP= $461
FINANCE FEE= ($36,400 + $19,791) X .005
FINANCE FEE= $28
MONTHLY PAYMENT= $461+$28, =$489
$489 is higher than their quoted $439... any ideas as to what I am doing wrong here?

Use this tool... it is comprehensive and very accurate (assuming your numbers are)...
http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm
A .0005 money factor is roughly 1.2% interest rate. That is very, very low. Do you have that in writing?
If I input your numbers into the calculator, before taxes, assuming $0 money down and $500 extra in fees (aquisition fee, dealer fees, etc) you are looking at just about $500/mo before taxes. Are you putting anything down or trading anything in? If the answer is no then their quote is a great one. I would have that in writing or if they honor it don't try to find out why.

RE: 2008 Audi A4 Lease?
When I leased my end of the year 2007 back in August I got a .00165 money factor (3.9%) with an Audi A+ (Tier-1) credit ranking. I realize they want to sell all the 2008s for the new model though.

im not putting anything down.
i do have all this in writing, but it looks like he marked up the money factor. it should be .00025, not .0005
i told him this, and told him he has to work on getting the cap cost down. told him i want $400/month. he says he can get me in the ballpark.
really dont like the fact that this is the last model year until they go to the b8... kind of upsetting for me. but i have to see how it looks in person... and i have to convince myself the bmw 328i coupe can wait, especially if thats gonna be closer to $500/month.

.00025 and .00040 is a killer rate! I can't believe that, nearly 0%. I like the 2008 body with the standard s-line kit. $400/mo with nothing down is a good deal (before taxes right?). What options do you get for $36,650? I was going to say that $250 off the MSRP isn't a great deal at all... they should be able to do better than that.
Keep us posted. Besides who wants a 328i? I would say 335i and nothing less when you can afford it.

Money Factors are really low on the A4's, but the residual rates are so so (due to Audi's crappy resale values). Still super cheap cheap compared to competition. I'm leasing mine for $369 per month with drive off of 1k.
